Senior Manager (Research & Development)

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monitoring and analysis of macroeconomic and industry trends; direct deep-dive analysis on new and emerging sectors, competitive landscapes, and disruptive technologies, and evaluate their implications for Hong Kong’s ecosystems and strategic positioning
- Lead early-stage strategic assessment and pre-deal screening of potential investment opportunities, ensuring strategic fit, sectoral relevance, commercial viability and risk alignment with the HKIC’s mandate
- Assist Head of R&D in overseeing strategic projects, including work planning, milestone tracking, quality control, and delivery; manage multi-stakeholder expectations; provide targeted advice and negotiation support throughout deal processes
- Drive and take forward the HKIC’s thought leadership agenda, including but not limited to producing research publications, paper and presentations, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities, strategic narrative, and key investment themes
- Co-develop or co-curate high-quality thought leadership content by collaborating with key industry leaders, research organisations, academic institutions, think tanks, etc.
- Cultivate a robust network of government and public bodies, policy institutions, regulatory authorities, industry associations, etc. to gather ground-level intelligence and enrich the HKIC’s knowledge base
- Perform other assigned duties as required
Requirements
- Degree or advanced degree in Economics, Public Policy, Finance or related fields. Experience or academic background in one of the HKIC’s key investment themes would be an added advantage
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, preferably combining roles in economic research and strategic analysis (e.g. in-house corporate strategy or policy research)
- Good understanding of the Basic Law of the HKSAR
- Committed to contributing to the future development of Hong Kong and achieving the HKIC’s objectives
- Strong sense of integrity and professional ethics
- Demonstrated ability to integrate economic analysis with strategic investment considerations
- Strong knowledge of global financial landscape, understanding of Hong Kong’s financial services and innovation and technology ecosystems preferred
- Willing to work outside normal office hours as and when required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Putonghua and English, fluency in Cantonese a plus
Remuneration Package
